No Service for days... And still not getting any help

On Wednesday (3 Nov 10), Our Verizon landline and wireless internet service stopped. Today is 8 Nov 10 and still no service.
I must say, my wife is a student with assignments due this week online and not to mention we pay all our bills online and we are beginning to have a serious problem. We went to Verizon Wireless store hoping that they can give us a temporary solution but they sounded like Wireless and Internet & Phone lines got nothing to do with each other.
It seems like we're dealing with two different companies. We called Verizon a couple of times, after going through a rituals of recorded mayhem we finally got a human being. This person wasn't of much use. He asked me to do a procedure that requires a technician. I need someone at my house now!
The customer service agent said we'd have to wait until this Friday (11 Nov 10). That's eight (8) days without a landline telephone and internet services! Why? I don't know what else to say except we are very dissatisfied, frustrated, and angry with Verizon.
Their services are very expensive with two year contracts and right now I feel taken advantage of since they still want to get paid. They even told us that we have to pay for the technician fee to come over to fix the problem.
