Tried to extort almost $1000 for two weeks service

Almost two years ago I switched my family wireless service to Verizon. We had been receiving harassing calls in the early morning hours and my current wireless provider, Spring who I had been with for years, could do nothing to help with this problem with the exception of changing the phone number.

I was lied to by the Verizon representative who told me that they could block these numbers. Well, not only could the NOT block the numbers, but we had trouble with dropped calls and reception in the are we lived (which is not that far off the beaten path).

Verizon gave you, at this time, a whole 15 days to cancel your service if you are not happy. I called on the 13th day and informed the rep that Verizon was not a good fit and that we would be changing service the next day. I was informed that would be no problem.

To make a long story short, I soon received a bill for almost $1000 which after numerous phone calls was graciously dropped to $800. After a compaint to the BBB the charges were then dropped to $157... For two weeks service... And service that was cancelled before the dead line???

I am STILL getting calls and letters from collection agencies on this matter.

It is a shame, most people I know are happy with Verizon and I would have nice things to say if only they would have done what they advertise.
