Office Depot Rebate ripoff - change of terms

I bought 3 cases of Office Depot brand blank CDs during "After Thanksgiving Day Sale". They offered $10 rebate on $17.99 item making it a great deal of only $7.99 so I bought 3. Submitted the rebate forms as required. I was expecting to get $30 rebate for all of 3 I bought.

Over a month later when I checked the status of rebate check, their website showed only $10 being processed with an Error stating "One per household".

When I read the back of the rebate form, the condition states, "One (1) Rebate per Qualifying Purchase", NOT "One per household" as they reasoned as to why they were processing only $10. I called to dispute. I felt like I was talking to a wall. I had to repeat myself 3 times and the rep repeated his rejection 3 times. When I finally gave him the impression that I am not taking his "NO" for an answer, he said he will give me the 2nd rebate making the total a $20. When I told him I did not call to bargain with him and that I demand my $30 rebate as it is stated on the back of the rebate form, he did process what's owed to me. I was ready to send him a copy of terms stated on the back of the rebate form. I told him they can't just change the terms to pay less. If they do, their advertisement becomes a fraud for I bought items based on the terms stated on the back of their rebate form.

Tips to consumers - make sure make copies of everything you submit for your record until you receive your rebates, especially their terms so they can't lie and rip you off.

Here is how they seem to play... They make a great offer... You submit the rebate... They change the terms when processing which usually takes 6 to 8 weeks... By the time you find out they are ripping you off, you can't return the item back to the store for a refund for thier return policy is only 14 days. So then it causes you to pay more than if you bought it at their competing store like Office Max or Staples.

Rebate can be great at times but be careful!
