Please read this and don't become the next me
I've got to be the biggest fool to ever deal with Vendstar and Specialty marketing and they laughed all the way to the bank. They got me for 1000 machines and my wife for 115. For you that are adding it up, that's over $150,000.00. Basically my entire savings. Then I ask them to buy back 145 machines that were still in the box, they luaghed. Here is exactly as I was told. Joe Spenili sales mgr. "I can't make that decision alone Larry Kaplan has to approve it", Larry " I don't why he would say that I'm in tech support, but I'll tell you this WE DON'T GIVE REFUNDS.
Here how they closed the deal with me and several other poeple I've talked to. They get semi commtted then they ask you if you're going to locate them. Them they told "me" and others You need to Contact Jennifer Buffington with Specialty Marketing. I did. Then she gives this fantastic warranty, guaranteeing she will put the machines in location that make "x" amouny per day. From what I've heard, between $2.00_ $3.00 per per machine. The numbers work out great and you think "if she's guaranteeing this I can't loose.
So you call Multivend back and buy there machines. Let me make this very clear they only recommend specialty marketing and not one other single locating compamy. The reason is obviouse. She guarantees how muc money you will make, so she basically closes the deal for them. Here's the bonus. Within 2-4 days after you pay for your first order the salesman will call you back and tell you something SIMILAR to this, "some one in your area had "x" amount of machines ordered but had to postpone or cancel his order from "some reason" you need to take advantage of this and get as many machines out now. We can make you a special deal on these machines. That's how they got me for an extra 700 machines above the original 300 I purchased.
Of course any of you that have dealt with Jennifer Buffington and Specialty Marketing now know that will never happen.
After things started going bad with Specialty marketing, I started doing some digging and found out that her brothers company, that she worked with was under investigation and indicment for basically doing the same thing jennifer was doing guaranteeing an income per machine then not following through on the warranty.
I called Joe Spenili back and ask him if he new about this. To my suprise he said "YES". Here's what he said, which blew me away, " yeah I know but that was her brother", At this point I new I was scammed and doomed. Out of the aprox. 600 machines specialty marketing locayed for I have had to pull aprox 300. I service my machines evevry three weeks, switched candy so I get max income, and I'm averaging about $0.45/day per machine. After gas and candy the profit is not much. But I have to keep servicing so i can at least help pay my bills.
To make matter worse you can get candy ouy of these machines using cardboard cut out the size of quarters, coffee straws, paper clips, about any game token that's close to the size of a quarter (paper, plastic or metal) and know telling what else but these are just the things that poeple have used on my machines. The locks that hold the tops on, break with a simple pry of a screwdriver. You should see the machines that I have had to pull because rats eat right through the thin clear fronts on the canisters. I have pictures so this is not a false statement. These machines are cheap and inferior.
I hope this article will help people from getting got up in there scam. Let me be clear. I don't think the bulk vending machine business is a scam but the way vendstar does business and there machines are agout as bad as it gets.
