Sterling Van Lines aka Ameri Van Lines MOVING COMPANY CANCELLED DAY OF SCHEDULED MOVE!

My move from Nebraska to California using Sterling Van Lines was scheduled for Wednesday August 28th. I was sent a confirmation email from the company indicating the day they were supposed to show up, the cost, and the address of pick up and delivery.

I was told that the day before the move the driver would call me and let me know when he would be by to pick up my furniture and stuff for the move.By 4pm on the 27th the company had not called me.

I contacted the company and was told that the driver was running late and that he would not be by until late night on the 28th. Late night being sometime between 9 and 11 pm. The representative for the company told me again that the driver would call me before he arrived and notify me when he was in the area.

By 4pm on the 28th (the day of the scheduled move) I had not received a phone call from the driver. I called the company again and they informed me that the driver was delayed again and that he was not going to be able to make it until the next morning. I asked the representative to make sure the driver calls me before he arrives so I can let him into the complex.

The next morning by 9:30am the driver had not called nor had anyone from the company contacted me. I called the company and was told that the driver was being delayed again and would be around 7 or 8 hours late. I told the representative that I was scheduled to move out of my apartment the previous day and all of my utilities were going to be turned off today (the 29th). I told the representative that I wanted to talk to the driver.

The representative told me that the driver would call me. After a half hour of waiting for the driver to call me I contacted the company yet again to inform them that I had not received a phone call from their driver yet. The representative then gave me the drivers cell phone number.

I called the driver and he informed me that he would not be able to get to my apartment until the next day (the 30th). This would have set my moved back three days. I called the company to tell them that the driver was giving me information contrary to what they had given me. The representative for the company told me he was going to talk to the driver and put me on hold.

After talking to the driver the representative came on the line with me and told me what I already knew; that the driver was not going to be able to come until the next day. I told the representative that I needed some sort of compensation from them as a result of them delaying the move. I informed that I wanted a discount on the price I was quoted for the move. He told me that they weren't going to move my stuff.

The company cancelled showing up to move my stuff across the country after they were late and indicating that they weren't going to be able to show up. Subsequently I had to leave all of my furniture and move since my moveout date for the apartment complex was already given and I was past that date, and I start my new job in California on the 3rd of September.
