Billed major credit of an elderly woman who died in 2006 Ripoff

My deceased mother-in-law apparently activated an account prior to her death, or at least I can only assume this is the case. Perhaps this company goes through obituary notices and then starts billing their accounts. I don't know!

In any event her major credit card had been billed for $99.99 on a monthly basis and when we called we could get no answer as to what this billing was for but were told by that credit card company that they would remove the billing and cancel the credit card.

Several months went by, and all of a sudden a Macy's card that she apparently had came with this same $99.99 billing. The description on the bill said CTHotline 800-826-1342. I called the Macy's credit card and they had no idea what the billing was for either. They said I would have to call the hotline number, which I tried calling numerous times and continually got disconnected. I called back the Macy's credit card company explaining this and they said they would try calling. I finally was connected to a woman at the company she stated was called HOTLINE and when questioned said it was an account set up to prevent credit card fraud and identity theft. I insisted on getting an address and phone number, she gave me a cancellation number, which I hope will actually now cancell any possible future attempts they may try to make to bill this deceased woman.
