I moved from Kissimmee, FL to Peabody, MA in 2004. I waited ten days for my furniture and clothes to arrive. The truck was different than the truck that originally packed my stuff. They had dividers in the truck and had previously dropped off a load in New Jersey. Progressive Van Lines pulled up to the house and the truck was so huge, it pulled all the cable wires down. I had to hire an electrician to put the wires back on the telephone poles.
When I opened my boxes, most of my collectibles and glassware were broken. I put in a claim and was told that since I didn't take pictures of the broken items I couldn't claim them. Some of my boxes were missing, but they said no.
I did file a claim and was granted $156.00. I had everything notarized and was told to wait 6-8 weeks. I called them once a month and was told they were mailing the check out in a few days. The last time I called, a woman said she was from the Claim Management Department, and that Progressive Van Lines had gone out of business. I heard that they are open under the name of AY Movers or AY Transport.
