My mother signed up for Dish Network today to get away from the never ending rate hikes of cable. What we thought was a good idea turned out not to be.
The representative from Dish Network said that they needed a credit or debit card number, and since my mother doesn't have a credit card, the representative asked if I would use mine in order to "push the order through" and that I would "only be charged a dollar". I asked her repeatedly if anything else would be debited from my account and she assured me that nothing else would be charged. Well, Dish Network must have a bunch of liars working for them because not even 5 minutes after my mother hung up the phone with them there was a debit on my account for $49.99. This hit on my account caused an overdraft fee that I will now have to pay in order to get my account current again. This woman debited my checking account without my permission, and lied to me in order to do so.
I called them and they told me that I have to wait 7-10 days to get my money back. This is outrageous, and I hope that people will steer clear of these deceiving crooks in the future.
