I attempted to return two parids of men's shoes to the Corpus store on Saturday, March 3. I had had the shoes for some time but did not consider it excessive. They had not been worn, I had the original receipt and the boxes.
The first clerk did not understand how to exchange shoes and referred me to another. He told me I would have to have a gift card. I objected, since nothing in the terms of the back of the receipt mentioned gift card, nor did was there any mention of not flatly refusing any return of merchandise after 31 days. He told me that because of the time frame involved, I would have to have this gift card. He then changed his mind, snatched the gift card back, dumped the boxes in bags in front of me and told me to go to Customer Service for the "gift card"
On arriving at CS, I was told to wait for the supervisor, after seeing her, I was told to wait for the department manager, then I was told to wait for the store manager. This Store Manager hustled me into the back, entered some numbers on the computer which indicated that the price of the shoes had diminished to 29.99, the shoes were out of date, no longer in fashion and could not be returned, the gift card was conveniently forgotten.
I felt humiliated but all the "interviews" I had to endure, and the deliberate "wait" to see each of these "important" managers. Dillards behaviour to me was horrible and after being a customer of their's for over 10 years, I will never return.
