I recently moved back to Utah and got my home phone service through Qwest. I requested that my number be non-published. I also registered my number on the do not call list. That was back in October.
The day my phone was turned on, I started to receive phone calls from telemarketers asking for me by name. I called Qwest and asked them if my number was non-published or what? They confirmed that it was non-published. So, I asked them why I was getting calls from telemarketers asking for me by name? They claimed that they don't sell non-published numbers to telemarketers but, sometimes, a disgruntled employee will add them to the list!
Today I get a call from a company called Aspen Water; 1960 Milestone Dr., Salt Lake City, UT 84104 801-478-1698. They, once again, asked for me by name. They were trying to sell me a water softener. I asked them where they got my name and phone number from? They told me that it was on a list they had bought from Qwest!
What slimeballs! Why am I paying extra every month to have that number non-published just to have them turn around and sell it?
