On 10/14/06 we hired the Michael Hans of the company to complete some landscaping services which included pavers, a drain and the removal of some bushes. He wrote a contract, took our deposit of $700.00 which we gave him in check form, cashed it and never showed up to complete the work, which according to the contract was to begin on 10/24/06. Repeated phone calls to both the office phone and his cell phone went unanswered despite the fact that I gave him numerous numbers where I could be reached. When I attempted to contact the office number again on 10/30/06, I got the message that the number had been disconnected. Although I continue my efforts in contacting him by cell phone, I only get the voice mail.
As of 11/1/06, I have reported the matter to the police where I live (it's "theft of services"), reported it to the Better Business Bureau, and I also attempted to report it to Middlesex Borough police, but the told me I would have to go through my township's police department.interestingly enough, Middlesex Borough's police department told me they have received numerous complaints about the company's business practices and that he "should be put out of business". I am planning to take the matter to small claims court once I have a complete police report.
Hind sight is 20/20 vision. Looking back, I now see all of the "red flags" that should have warned me: the fact that he demanded a deposit when the contract was written, the fact that the business address did not appear pre-prinited on the contract or his business card (he hand wrote it in); the fact that although he initially said he could do the work the following week and that the job was a one-day job, he entered a start date one week later than what he previously told me and the end date was two and a half weeks from the start date.
Michael Hans is a liar, a thief, a poor businessman and although I have quite a few more choice words to describe him I will not enter them here. Suffice it to say those words have been left on his voice mail.
