Ripoff Fraudulent and Dishonest Billing Doesn't Follow through on Promotions Imcompetent Customer Service

After we moved to a new apartment, we had to give up Dish Network because there was no line of service. The default cable service company was Charter Communications.

I went online and signed up for the "BIG VALUE PACKAGE" promotion which was $29.99/mo for 3 months and defaulted to the standard package rate of $56.99/mo. I also signed up for the automatic billing to waive the $24.99 installation charge.

A few weeks later, a tech showed up to install our cable service and he left a huge mess. We had to run a cable wire from the wall jack over a door to the TV and it was so ugly and unprofessional, I had to redo it and cover up all the holes that he made. He would never had done his own house like that and it shows how unprofessional this technician was.

A few weeks after the installation, my first bill appeared with the $24.99 installation charge. I called and told them that I signed up for automatic billing and they said I would be reimbursed after 3 months of service. This was NEVER mentioned to me.

So 3 months went by and the installation charge was never reimbursed. Additionally, my package rate went up to a whopping $69.99/mo. I called and had to leave a "report" for someone to call me back. No one ever did so I called again a week later and the rep manually reimbursed my account for the installation charge and said he would correct my rate as well, but the correction wouldn't show up for another billing period.

3 months went by and I was still getting charged the higher rate. Luckily, I did get reimbursed for the installation charge, but they continued to charge me more than what I signed up for. I called today and spoke to the most imcompetent rep thus far. She could hardly speak English and was clearly reading off the monitor. She explained to me that my rate was because the promotion was over and the 4 services that was included in the BIG VALUE PACKAGE was being billed individually instead of as a package — even though my bill clearly says CHARTER BIG VALUE and on the price list on the 4th page, it list it as $56.99. When you go to www.charter.com, the same promo that I signed up for is still there! So she took, yet another report and now I am waiting to hear from someone locally.

This fraudulent tactic is clearly Charter's way of milking as much as money as possible from consumers who don't pay enough attention to their bills or just let things slide.
