I contacted several movers in the area a couple of weeks before I needed to move but chose Grateful Moving & Storage because they seemed very nice and helpful and they seemed very upfront about costs.
The Monday before my anticipated move date (Saturday, July 15), they called to cancel. It seems "the other girl in the office" overbooked that day and they can't possibly help me. When I explained my predicament (no one to help me... Single senior citizen with limited funds), the woman told me she would call me the next day with a referral to another company they worked with... I NEVER heard from them again.
I believe that a bigger, more profitable move came along and they went for the money.
I was very very lucky and have booked another moving company but now I worry that this could happen again.
