A friend of mine heard the open call on a local radio station and pushed me to go. It was located in Marshall Fields on State St, downtown Chicago. There was a huge turnout and they had pamphlets and posterboards of success stories. They made asked if anyone had bothered to check them out on the Better Business Bureau.
As the event went on, they took headshots of a few people and then said we'd get a call back. I did get a call back and they said we only had about 2 days to sign the contract. If you decide to sign it, we had to come up with a deposit to ensure our space and photographers for the composite cards. They said this was all we were being charged for. They kept 50 to shop us around and 50 for us to advertise ourselves.
The photoshoot wasn't a dead giveaway but the location was. I didn't even see the signs. I eventually got the composite cards in the mail and the slides and that was the last i heard from them. I tried to call when I didn't understand how to register for an event online and I never got a call back. I tried several times and then it really hit me that they had basically taken me for a ride. I paid alomst $900 to have some slides and 50 composite cards and had no one to get in contact with and would never get a call about a job either.
