I recently took advantage of the telephone payment service offered by SST, Inc. Since they took over my vehicle loan from the original lender. I imagine they purchased a package of producing loans from Ohio Bank, and it was my lucky day.
Following the actual payment over the telephone, at the very end of the payment process they thank you for making the payment over the phone telling you it has been processed and at the very end of the message they advise you that the payment on your bank statement will be greater than you expected because they tacked on an $8.00 fee for the service.
Of course, they sneak this statement in after the payment is processed and there is no way to object to it. I thought what a dirty way to do business! How can such a process be allowed? They are taking money directly out of my bank account, but fail to advise me of the actual amount they are taking..., come on $8.00 for an electronic transfer? And they don't have the courtesy to disclose the fee until after the fact.
Now that is a rip-off!
