Local And Long Distance Telephone Service They Took My Money And Provided Me With Nothing! Ripoff

I called my local telephone office to seek another long-distance carrier. The woman there suggested that I call Vonage. So I called them on 2/23/06 to sign up for the Unlimted Local and Long-distance plan for $ 24.99 a month. They didn't have service here in my town but vonage did offer me up another telephone number.

They activated my new telephone number immediately, but it would take 5 to 7 business days to receive their eqipment I needed in order for all of this to work. They also gave me the first month Free! Can't make long-distance calls without the equipment, why issue me a free month and have the goods take that long to arrive at my home?

I got the broadband router, hooked it up correctly, and the service still didn't work. I called Customer Service not knowing that my calls were being transferred to the country of India! Those people over there are so untrained, unprofessional and they don't understand the english language.

I had numerous calls to India but I couldn't get them to help me with getting the problem corrected. They kept putting me on hold and coming back to me with nothing to say about the problems I was having. It got so bad that last Wednesday, March 1 I spent nearly 9 hours on the phone with those idiots at customer service in India, and got not one thing accomplished!

I then looked deeper into Voange's website for their corporate offices. I printed that out and called them. I was redirected to the Enforcement Department of the CEO'S office. My account from that point on was cancelled on March 2, but the Nightmare was to continue. I received 2 emails all at once. One was the cancellation confirmation and the other was the return shipping email. I spoke to a man who asked me if I'd pay to ship it back to where the equipment originated from.

He was going to send a credit back to my checking account. I have yet to see that. They still owe me $ 42.34 that was rapidly removed from my checking account within 48 hours of the sign-up call, and if that weren't enough, Vonage has banged my checking account yesterday-3/6/06 for another $ 41.19! Bear in mind that my account is Closed-Terminated! Now they won't give that back to me until they have the equipment back. They're into me for over $ 93.00 now!

Vonage promised me local and long distance telephone service, a free month, gave me a new telephone number and the prefix of "579" couldn't be found in the state of Utah, they couldn't delivery on its promise. I was told by a few of their technicians that I needed a second DSL/BROADBAND line coming into my home for their services to function properly, and it never states that's something that is required. Vonage can do it all with one Cable/Dsl/Broadband High-speed Internet line. But they couldn't provide me their services after I hooked up the equipment.

Vonage told me that I could have any phone number that I wanted. If I lived in Florida-for example, and wanted a phone number in Canada I could have it and it would work. Most phone numbers outside your local calling area will cost you big money to route it into to your home. Vonage has the know-how to do anything but couldn't make good on their offer to me.

If you're considering getting Vonage think twice before you make that call to them. They took my money, gave me no service, cancelled my account, and they're still taking funds from me. I'd call that fraud.
