With the price of cigereet's souring, my husband and I both smoke, we were spending a fortune, we found this cig, place on the internet, a generic brand, we tried one cartoon at $13 a cartoon, they were not bad, so we ordered more. 5-cartons, aprox. Every 2weeks, my husband is a chain smoker. They always sent us advertisment to tell our friends and family "SPREAD THE WORD", well we did who could pass up a savings. We ordered from this company for aprox. 2yrs.in May we went to place our next order and no one ansewered the phone, we tried and tried, by this time the local corner store was selling the same brand, just about $3.00 more a cartoon.
Long story short... I started recieveing staments from the "IRS", different ones showing I owe different amounts, I thought what is this? I called a few times and was told someone would call me back, they never did and I did not revcieve any more notice's. Than we are getting ready to close on our new home purchase, our loan officer calls and tells me that I have a judgement showing on my credit report for aprox, $2,000.00. I was hysterical. I looked and found one of the tax letters, I called I was crying here it is Thanksgiving, I am trying to close on our new home and just got out of ICC/CCU, DUE TO MY MORPHINE PUMP malfaunctioned and caused me to overdose. I had a heart-attack and was in resporatory failure for the next 24 hrs. "WHAT A MESS!", I called the IRS, they said I owed taxes on the cigs we ordered, because they did not have the IN state seal on them they had KY seal. I thought but I am the customer it is not my responsibility to collect the taxes it is the companies. NO, say's the IRS, everyone knows you have to pay taxes, so how much do I owe 6& for each pack. OK that only averages out to aprox. $95, yes but you also owe usage taxes, "WAHT IS THIS?", this is taxes for SOMKING, CIGEREETE'S IN THE STATE OF IN AND THEY HAD A KY SEAL.
Have u ever heard of such a thing, I told them that was riducoulous, according to the IRS, everyone knows this they even ask you this question when you file your taxes. HAVE YOU PURCHASED ANY PRODUCTS OUTSIDE OF THE STATE IN WHICH U LIVE (somthinhg like that), I have never heard of it nor been asked that on my tax returns. So I did call a IRS financial counselor, I have a appt with them but since this was causing us a block on our home and was going to cause us to lose our home and all we had already invested, I had to pay $400.00, another $21.00 to overnight it and the lady MS. Donna Adkins was going to release the judgement and notify my loan officer, to make things worse, I pay extra money so Ms. Adkins, recieves the check by 10:30am Monday morning the 28th of NOV. I call all day no ans. Just VM, I call the # for emergency assitance, MS. Adkins, is out of the office, don't know when she will be back! CAN IT GET ANY WORSE? I finallly spoke with a supervisor Tammy Jones, well we can't find any overnite package, oh OK after 20mins We found it Yes, we have your check, could you please release the judgement, now Well I don't know what is going on I will have Ms. Adkins call you if she gets in tomorrow, if she don't show I will call you, needless to say, My loan officer finally, recieved notice the judgement was released.
I am still going to see the IRS counselor for I was told we may be able to file a class action suit, against KY, also The IRS stated that they had to sopena, the records for this company and there are a lot of people that have not recieved notice's to pay, I know I had my Mother ordering from them due to she only has a small SS ck less than $600 a mo. Ms. Adkins told me that most of the people they have on thier list are either disabled, low-income, or ederly, you may not have recieved your letter yet, but if you ever ordered cig's from dirtcheapcig, you just have not got hit, also you should ck your credit report, i don't know which one it was reported on, but it did not show up on me until they ran all three of the agencies. If you are a victim, contact me, i will be pursuing this to see if we can file a suit against ky. OR THE COMPANY.
