We live in Florida and after last years hurricanes, we were forced to move out of our apartment due to water rushing through the walls and ceiling. Our apartment complex moved us into another apartment that was not leaking. We waited for about 2 weeks before canceling our electricity and other bills because we thought we might move back after they fixed the apartment back. However, since we got hit with 2 more hurricanes, the apparent complex just told us to move out and they would worry about fixing the place after we moved.
After the 2 weeks or so, we called Sprint and told them that we has already been forced out of our home due to the hurricanes and we haven't been living there since the first hurricane. I didn't care if we had to pay for those two weeks (even though we haven't been living there) because we were still in hopes of moving back to our house until then. I just asked to cancel service from then.
Since we were not living there anymore, we could not tell if they had canceled the service or not, so I just took the word of the operator I spoke with.
After the next month, we got a bill from Sprint. I called them and told them we had canceled service last month. They did not want to listen and told me I had to pay them anyway or I would get bad credit. I called the old number and sure enough, it was still connected. I canceled the service and they still tried to charge me even after there were 3 hurricanes and I had obviously not used the phone in 2 months. I had to be on the phone with operator after operator and manager after manager to try to get them to fix it.
Sprint is such a rip-off. If you do have Sprint, try to change companies, and MAKE SURE they cancel your service by calling it. If you don't have Sprint, never get them. A few of my friends had Sprint and they did the same thing to them. Sprint sucks!!!
