SBC has been for a year trying to charge me for a final bill in 2002. The catch — I had service untill 2004. They claim I owe them money when the account in question has my name, wrong SSN and my old address and another address where I never lived.
The other catch is that it is listed under someone elses SSN that hasne been on the account for over 5 years. Collection agencies, 3 of them for same account, and all 3 had different totals they were to be collecting, all had wrong SSN and address with my name though.
SBC says I still owe. I will pay— wrong. I WILL NOT PAY! Also, they needed my personal info to verify in thier investigations (according to the exec's who were researching it to exonerate me of all charges). They required certain pieces of my personal info. Well I faxed it to them (maybe a bad idea) and now they say all my info is on the account (after they admitted to me over and over that it was not me and I would be held liable).
They replied to my BBB report thet I refused to help in their investigation and my info IS on the account. It wasnt before but somehow it just popped on there. After they recieved the fax to verify it wasn't me.
Thank goodness the collection agencies are on my side and I still have copy of fax to show date it was sent and to whom. They are trying their best to get me to pay.
To begin with, why pay for a bill they sent to me as being paid over 5 years ago. 3 different figures, how would I know which is right to begin with! Sounds like a mafia shakedown.
I now only use cellphone. Dropped MCI when SBC bought them. I have about 15 pages of documents that prove them wrong but thier exec's say it is not valid and has nothing to do with the issues at hand. BS! I may have to file a 4th BBB complaint, a 2nd utility regulation complaint, a 2nd-FCC, Attorney General complaint. Any more suggestions? Our CBS affiliate has helped me also!
