Early Termination Fees Even When The Service Does Not Work. Ripoff

In november I had sprint as a cell phone provider and was happy with everything but the calling area was not as large as Cingular. I decided to swap in the middle of my contract to CINGULAR because they had one of the largest calling areas around and had the roll over minutes.in order to cancel my contract I had to pay 600.00. I had no problem doing this becase I was traveling for work and cingular seemed to be the better company.

From day 1 my voice mail never worked properly ANY cingular phone I dialed I was able to retrieve that persons voicemail with out entering that persons password. All of the phone on my account and a few that were not on my account were able to retrive my voice mail. This makes it very hard for somone to leave you a message. I gave the company until June to fix the problem. Reporting the problem several times a month with the exception of the month I was in the hospital. Every time I spoke with somone they tried resetting the phone, Removing the voicemail feature and adding back on and nothing seemed to work.

I finally decide to cacel after everyone tried to call me and let me know that my father was in the hospital and no one was able to leave me a message. I called customer service and they were very polite and offerd to try and fix the problem I declined that offer becase why should I try the same thing after doing it over and over for six months. The lady then told me that if I had to disconnect I would have to pay about 600.00 in early termination fees. I told her I did not feel that I should have to pay since my service that I signed up for never worked properly she was honest and told me she could not waive them but I could speak to a supervisor.

After speaking with her supervisor she told me there was no way to waive the disconect fee and since I work in a call center and in a simmalar industry I know you can do what you want. They just wanted my money. I explaind I did not think this was fair and told her why and explain I had already Paid a disconect fee to come to this company and Had no problems with previous service and she said "O sir its just your voice mail its no big deal" I was so irritated at this time I ask to speak to her supervisor and she told me that I would have to hold I told her it was no problem at all.

When her supervisor fianally arrived on the phone I figured I may actually get somwhere at first then he finally told me that because I was refusing to trobleshoot he will not waive the disconect fee. I told him I have troble shot everything for SIX MONTHS and trouble shooting time was over. I even explained that I understand that things happen and at this time I am not looking for a new cell phone service but will be willing to talk to them in the futer.

He told me he refuses to waive the reconect fee. I then explain this can be done either the easy way or the hard way and expalin that I know about 20 people personally that have cingular all who are willing to disconnect there service he said that did not matter. After a while of talking we were just going in cicles and I was ready to give it up and try going higher during the day and ask him th just read me the notes on my account at that time he refused. I told he he cannot refuse to read me something on my account becase I am the one who pays the bill he informed me that I would have to supena those notes. I told him only the courts supena thing like that If i request it then he has to provide it and he finally gave me 4 notes that he erad back to me. I then ask him for the dates of all the other notes on the account and he refued to read those to me and I told him that he did not need to be a customer service manager by no means.

He then said "Well sir if you tell me how onnly the dates will help you then I will read them to you" I told him that when I write The Corperate office to file a complaint on him I will also include a letter that will then dispute the charges for early termination he then ratteld the dates off and after 10 minutes he was done. I can not believe these people...
