Prior to the merger of Cingular and AT&T Wireless, I was a happy and content AT&T customer. However since the merger, all service for us unfortunate AT&T customers has gone out the door.
You would think that Cingular would do anything and everything reasonable to keep former AT&T customers, but I don't really think they understand the concept of "customer service." Instead "we" are treated like the step children.
Since "we" were inherited, we no longer have the option to add or upgrade our plans without signing another 2 year contract with Cingular, and online you can't even upgrade without being forced to buy a new phone. Not only that, Cingular wants you to pay an activation fee. However, according to one of their scripted customer service reps, they are being generous enough to waive the early termination fee. What a joke!
One, my phone is perfectly fine. I don't need a new phone. Two, an activation fee? How is that even possible. Now that AT&T is out of the picture, don't we already pay for our current services to Cingular. What is there to activate? Last of all, how can Cingular even state that they are waiving an early termination fee? How absurd. With the merger, didn't Cingular purchase AT&T Wireless customers?
You would think Cingular would get smart about maintaining good relationships with AT&T Wireless customers. All I know is that I'm not giving Cingular anymore business, and I certainly wouldn't refer them to anybody I know. I'm just waiting out my AT&T contract. April can't get here soon enough.
