Mafia Moving Scam Ripoff

The Broker (Nationwide/Movingcost) purposely under-estimates the moving cost to under-bid all other movers. The contact John Niewoehner, even states: "The software OVER ESTIMATES the cost so that you have plenty of room to work if you end up with more items".

My estimated weight was 10,300 and total move cost estimate was $3,616.

I then gave away a number of items to my children which, according to their estimate totaled 1,600 pounds bringing my estimated move to 8,700 lbs.

Ferrari, the mover pushed my pick up date and delivery date back eleven times costing me thousands in lost deposit and lost rental revenue from my former landlord. He took my Harley Davidson to Florida and kept it for a month.

Ferrari claimed that my items (not including the bike, 25 boxes, and other items not picked up for weeks) totaled 12,300 pounds and had to have the extra cash before he would deliver my merchandise. ($1,200) He said that I would have to pay the total cost for a second truck for the remaining items including weight, meals, gas and lodging. (How could a second truck even be required if I shipped less than 70% of the items I claimed to have to ship?) He kept these items in Florida until I hired an attorney.

My estimated 8,700 pounds of weight was recorded by Ferrari as over 14,400 pounds. He threatened me physically about the lawsuit and claims. (I have this threat recorded)

Nationwide/MovingCost and Ferrari have a scam. Nationwide underbids and then Ferrari uses Mafia tactics to brow beat the consumer into paying the significantly higher costs. I would bet that 98% of Nationwide's customers are moved by Ferrari.

Nationwide claims they can't be sued because it is Ferrari's error. Ferrari claims that the contract signed with Nationwide does not bind him because he is the mover. Ferrari claims to be out of New York with a drop box location there but actually lives and operates out of Kissimmee.

So far this move, estimated at $3,600 has cost me over $8,000. These costs will climb with my small claims suit travel to Florida.
