My friend was the one who was actually ripped off. He saw an add for RDS in one of those free newspapers/jobs magazine type thing. He called the phone number (sorry I don't have it in front of me now) and the guy said that he would have to send a check or money order for some smallish amount ($15). Sorry this has been several months so the exact details are a little fuzzy.
My boyfriend then sent a money order to the address provided by the guy on the phone and he (boyfriend) never received anything. So he called the guy at RDS back after not receiving anything for several weeks and this person told him that his "package" was on its way. Nothing was ever received but I can guarantee my boyfriends' money order was surely cashed.
This is the type of scam that really gets to me. The amounts lost by victims are small so most people don't take the time to report anything. That is what these predators count on. They may only take us each for $20, but that adds up quickly if gone unchecked. Let's all do our part to get these bad eggs out of our basket.
Thanks for reading.
