Bad service - wine in box

We had a package sent as a present from California. It was wine, so we had to sign for it. They attempted to deliver 4 days in a row... Of course during business hours when we are working and no one is home. We then received a call saying we had 5 days to go to the local UPS Distribution store to pick it up. With 1 day left, my boyfriend, who lives with me and has this address on his license id went to pick it up as soon as he could. He called me as well to speak with the lady. The local store was only open from 9-11 and 4-6. They would not release the package to him. I called the 1800 number only to find out the distribution centers do not have phone numbers to call. They also told me through this customer service number that she should have released the package to him b/c he had a government issues id with this address. She said I had to send a written note with a copy of my license on it and the signature in my note had to match the signature exactly on my license... Good thing I am consistent. After trying to fax it, it would not go through.

Needless to say we have to pick it up by tomorrow. I am sending the note with my boyfriend. The customer service agent at the 1800 number said she should have released it to him anyway, so I hope this is the case. Otherwise, they are sending it back to CA.

Very bad experience. I guess if you work normal business hours and cannot make it with in their 4 hour window, you can't order packages you have to sign for. This was harder to pick up than getting on an airplane!
