Ripoff disrespectful selective returns too many hidden rules on return policy

Wal-Mart Supercenter Store #981
1733 2Nd Street South
Meridian, MS 39301

To whom it may concern,

I am a frequent shopper at walmart. I have 3 small children and normally I will just buy merchandise for my children and then take it home to see if it fits or to see if the product is what they want or needed.

I have always liked there return policy until recently. They have always served me with the respect. I buy a lot most of the time. Return only a little then normally repurchase something else. I normally ask for gift cards because I even buy my gas at walmart.

The last few times I have purchased merchandise and tried to return it with the receipt, in the package (untouched), or tags still on merchandise, normally purchased with my visa card the customer service and return department has refused to return my products.

In the past when I have bought something on clearance and kept it longer than 30 days they have accepted and normally they try to give me cash without a receipt, but that is occasionally because I normally have my receipt. I have purchased Christmas items and returned them as late as march of the next year and they have accepted it.

Now I can purchase a product and return it within 10 days of the receipt, with the receipt, and the product will still be in the package and they will refuse to even give me a gift card.

I notice there were some people on this sight that was complaining because walmart gave them a gift card and they wanted there money reguardless if they had a receipt or not.

I would be grateful if I could just get a gift card. I follow all there rules. I make sure everything is resaleable and I make sure that I have my receipt and return it normally within 10-18 days of the purchase and that is only because I don't go to town every day or but once a week.

My latest transaction was on jan 6 of I purchased some flashlights, and some darts for a dart board. They were on clearance. That didn't bother me because I have bought a lot of clearance from walmart before and returned what I didn't need.

Well, I tried to return today jan 24, I waited patiently until they called my name out. I started talking to the clerk and separating my two returns with my two receipts and ask her to put it on a gift card because I needed groceries anyways.

She just turned, started talking and chit-chatting with another clerk, and then rudely said "oh, I'm sorry, what was that?" I just stared for a moment, caught my breath then repeated. She automatically said "Nope you can't return these items, this was Christmas items and we don't take them back!"

I explained I had my receipt, I purchased it on jan 6, and it was in the sporting goods department along with the rest of the dart boards and flashlights. She got ugly with me, rolled her eyes and said, "I don't care we don't take merchandise back if it was for christmas and seasonal." She just then proceeded to turn her back and bag my stuff to send me on my way.

I explained there were no signs, saying no refunds, no exchanges, christmas clearance items, or anything in the store or around the merchandise that I purchased that would lead me to believe I could not refund or exchange. She got uglier with me and I requested for store manager.

While I was waiting, another clerk, swiveled her head back and forth at me and repeated that this has always been walmarts rules and policy. I explained that I have returned ornaments before, after christmas that I didn't believe what she was saying. She smarted off "Oh well!"

The manager came out finally. I explained to her about the purchase and she said "well, I am sorry, but we can't take christmas merchandise back."

I looked at her for sympothy and said "Look, I have my 3 children, I don't feel good, I have been really nice and all I wanted was to buy some food for my 3 children. I would rather have food than darts and I realized that they didn't need this stuff so I am returning it with receipt, in package, 18 days after purchase, and requesting a gift card for food."

She then turned to the clerk that had already bagged and tied my bag up to hand to me and said. "Give her a gift card, overide it and tell the stockers that I approved it."

Well, you are probably wondering why I would still be upset, because I got my gift card. Let me tell you why.

When I turned around after spilling my guts to three clerks about needing to buy food. I turned around and there were two high-school buddies standing right behind me and my preacher's wife and some ladies from the church, also there was a wife with a big mouth that her husband worked with mine.

Do you think that was fair for me to have to spill my guts, beg for food, plead for sympothy, when I had already paid my visa, was short of cash, always use walmart for my shopping?

I don't understand why some clerks can be so inconsiderant to customers that are really sincere folks and I think you could tell that I wasn't trying to scam. I had met all of the requirements and still had to be interragated!

Please email me and tell me what you think should be done about this rude behavior from a store that gets half of my husbands income a month.
