Had receipt, was less than 90 days old as stated on big blue sign in returns dept. Clerk#1 said we dont take back holiday merchandise.
I was trying to return velvet bows $25.00 worth that were new, still in package, not used that were purchased for church christmas tree that we did not put up until christmas eve.
Receipt is dated 12/11/05 $125.00 worth of decorations. I tried to return on 2/20/06. I live 40 miles RT from store, at 2.50 gallon of gas this was 1st time back to store since christmas.
There is a hand made sign now posted under printed store sign that says "no longer accepting christmas merchandise". I asked clerk when that was put up, it was not there at time of purchase and he said "we put that up before christmas" that doesnt make sense so i asked him to call for a manager.
Manager "Becky" came over and said that they wont take back bows. I said that it is within the 90 days that has always been the policy and is still the policy on the printed sign and is the policy on wal-mart.com-no exclusions listed for "holiday merchandise" I asked when the store put up the "no longer accepting" sign and she told be 1/1/06.
I asked how can a customer know when you are putting up a sign after purchasing an item. And I asked if there was only 5 days to return "holiday" merchandise and she said yes only 5 days. I asked why don't you print that on the receipts so there would be no misinterpretation and she replied, they can change their policy any time they want and not have any return policy on the receipt.
I am out $25.00 and was returning items with receipt within the posted store policy at the time of purchase.
Wal-Mart is out to rip off people because they can.
