Be careful working for or dealing with Essex Sign Company. There were red flags from day one. The building is a ran down shack with no heat, you have to jump 2 wires together to open the overhead door.
His truck is a piece of junk, one of the outriggers on the crane doesnt work, the remote is gone on the basket, and in order for the brake on the basket to work he has gloves shoved in the brake.
JR is very disrespectful to everyone except the new guy (me at the time). We went to a restaurant and Lighting Supply and i heard comments about how JR is always firing everybody.
JR is absolutly clueless about how neon and fluorescent signs work. If he can't change light bulbs hes screwed.
He has very little stock other than lamps on his truck. He has a huge suppy of used ballasts and transformers in his shop that he is willing to sell to the customer as new.
While we were out Monday he asked how I wanted to be paid and I said by check if at all possible. He told me that it was going to be a short week and he would pay me cash this week on friday. Friday comes and we are busy as a bee we were out after dark and didnt make it back to the shop until after 7, he says the bank is closed and asked if I could come in Saturday for 1/2 a day and he would pay me then. I have no problem working Saturdays so in I went. When we got done he drives by his mothers house and goes shes not home call my wife in an hour and she will pay you. To make a long story short it was 10 or 20 phone calls and 4 days later I finally got paid most of my money.
He may have only paid me because I know one of his friends. Watch out and don't get shafted.
