Called A-1 moving to get a quote on a move from Vermont to New York. Jim, the owner of A-1 came by and quoted me a price and informed me that they were an upstanding moving company.
The day of the move Jim and two hired hands show up with a rented truck, this should have been a red flag for me. Truck was loaded without using a single strap, should have been the second red flag. The hired hands were just two guys to lift heavy items, no moving experience! Again, Jim's ad states he has a moving company and is experienced!
Well, the truck gets to New York and our washer and dryer are damaged and not functioning, both are less than a year old; our television stand was also broken. Different hired hands who came to New York, said no problem Jim will take care of you. Jim requested paperwork for the items in question which we sent. I placed about six calls to Jim over a 12 week period and was always told that he was working with his insurance company. At no time did any insurance company call me nor request any information and as stated I had to reach out to Jim each time.
Do not use this company!!! The guy is dishonest and can not be trusted!
I hope no one gets burnt by this guy in the future.
