I contracted them to move from CA to MI. They promised lot of things, but they came out to be very short on their promises:
1. I received my things 2-3 weeks late
2. Lot of stuff was broken. My newly born baby girl's furniture was damaged. Lot of my personal arts and paintings were damaged, many boxes were ripped apart.
3. The person unloading was *very* unprofessional, rude and he cracked a expensive piece of furniture right in front of my eyes because of the way he was handling it.
4. The weight of my stuff was never measured even though they promised they would measure it and provide me with a certificate from a professional authority to indicate the exact weight. They basically guessed the weight and charged according to that. When I asked the driver about the certificate, I was told that he forgot the certificate at the head-quarters. When I talked to his boss (Ely Kavon), he told me he has it overthere. After multiple requests, he said he can fax me the certificate. When I told him my fax #, he told me "I'll be honest with you, our fax machine is broken".
After digging a bit more by talking to the owner of the company and the driver, it was VERY clear that my things were never weighed and they were ripping me off by guessing the weight. When I complained to the driver and the owner, they threatened to leave without dropping off my things. The driver told me that the owner told him to just leave if I don't pay up immediately.
When I called/emailed back about the insurance, there was ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE. My calls were never answered (their answering machine was full) and my emails were totally ignored. All in all, I think they robbed me of more than $2000.
In total, they charged me about $7000 on my move from CA to MI.
After doing some research, I came to find out that Galore Moving and Storage has shut down and has re-named their business to Diamond Relocations. Their new phone # is 1-877-666-9876. I called this number and I think it was either Adam or Ely who answered, I vividly remembered the voice. When I said that "so you changed your business name now", he got a bit scared and said "I'm sorry?". It was clear that he recognizes his unethical business practices and I think he is scared out of his ass that someone might take him to court again.
I think we all need to gather and put this son of a witch out of business by getting the authorities (feds, fbi, doj, etc) to make sure that he does not do any more moving business.
I'm even willing to give ads in popular magazines and newspapers warning consumers about Ely Kavon since I think he is the main culprit here. He can shut down a company and immediately start a new one by just changing the name of the business and its address.
