Site to Store Delivery - Boss Audio 637 UA AM/FM/CD/MP3 Receive

On April 2 I ordered a Boss 637 UA AM/FM radio from Wal Mart's website. My order was confirmed on April 3 and my order was shipped on April 5. The website's easy to use and the progress of the order was meeting reasonable expectations at this point. On April 6, at 9:54 AM the radio arrived at the Hurricane, UT Sorting Facility. About 6 hours later at 5:48 PM the radio left Hurricane enroute to the Grantsville, UT Delivery Facility. It arrived in Grantsville at 5:41 AM on April 9. This was the first delay in handling the radio. It looks to me like the 300 mile trip from Hurricane took 2 days? I don't think so. It looks like the Delivery Facility doesn't admit receiving an item until it's ready to shoot it out to the store because within 4 hours of receiving it they report shipping it to the store. At 9:32 AM on April 9th the radio was "In Transit To Store"... A 120 mile trip. On April 10 at 1:00 PM I went to our local Evanston, WY store to check on the radio because I'd been given a receipt date of April 10 to 16th. The clerk at the store entered my order number in the system and told me abruptly the radio was "not available" and that it would be 48 to 72 hours before it would be. I provided her a copy of the "Site to Store Track Your Site to Store Order" document which reported the facts as I've related them here. I was treated like a beggar seeking alms from on high and sent my way. I've reflected on this "typical" store level customer service experience and asked myself why I continue to feed at the Wal Mart trough when, at least at our local store, this is the attitude they have. My answer for myself is that I will take the approximate $10K we spend there each year to other local and internet stores where my business is appreciated and where my paultry business rewards those vendors who have a better attitude about customers. Wal Mart reminds me of the US Government. Site to Store delivery charges what it's worth. I blame only myself. Wal Mart is acting like Wal Mart and I need to learn.
