Rec'd a letter from Universal Fidelity, LP claiming I owe $37.43 to the "Legal Successor of Hollywood Video" for 5 movies listed with rental dates ranging from 5/11/09 thru 12/27/09. No other breakdown information as to what the debt was for (late fees, unreturned videos, etc) was listed. I know for a fact that I do not owe Hollywood Video any money. There is no 1-800 listed on the paper for this "national collection agency", just a local Houston TX number. There are also 2 seperate PO Box numbers on the "bill". I looked up Universal Fidelity, LP thru the Houston TX BBB, they are not an accreditated business and have had over 132 complaints filed in the past 3 years, 116 of them concerning billing/collection issues. There were also 17 different phone numbers listed and 7 different PO Boxes/addresses. The BBB also states they are rec'ing a pattern of complaint activity against this company concerning these unpaid fees. I think the whole thing is a scam.
