Nigel — A "Supervisor" in the Claims Dept. "It's not your fault, but you are going to lose the claim..."

I'll just start this by inserting a quotation from the conversation with the paypal representative named: Nigel ID# 47550: "It's not your fault, but you are going to lose the claim." Mr. Nigel was very quick to tell my how I was going to lose 300 bucks because well... He's used to informing sellers how paypal doesn't really protect ebay sellers.

So, basically, I sold some event tickets and mailed them to the buyer's registered address — set to arrive the day before the event (all information on the item page). The buyer provided an address which lacked a specific routing number, i.E. Like a PO box number, so the USPS Express envelope got returned back to me with a nice little stick with "no such number" because well, it didn't have the routing number. But... And here's the stinger, because the envelope got returned to back to the seller, the buyer will win the claim in their favor. Nigel explains this faulty logic as "because the USPS tracking site says arrived at unit, number does not exist, returned to sender, " "you will lose this claim."

As we spoke further, he tried to communicate to me how there was nothing I could have done, well, because I sent the tickets to the REGISTERED PAYPAL BUYER'S ADDRESS that matches the invoice, "[I] will lose this claim." In other words, I had to had of some how (1) known the routing number of the buyer's address and (2) magically predict that the buyer would not provide this information, and (3) insure the USPS tracking website read DELIVERED.

The main issue I fail to see eye-to-eye with, is that the criteria for determining a paypal claim outcome is the USPS tracking statement of "delivered" or not, INSTEAD OF, making sure the seller following all the steps he/she could to insure successful delivery of items (matching address to invoice) — which in this case I believe I did. I purchased the shipping label on the paypal.com website linked to the ebay sale, mailed them on-time to the confirmed shipping address provided on the invoice. I don't see what else I could have done. But Mr. Nigel is very quick to inform everyone that this is not the case.
