I checked my bank accout today and found two charges of $2.17 from Redbox. I have not rented a movie in several weeks.
I called Redbox and they said it was for a movie I rented on 6-6-09. It is 8-28-09. When I asked them why it took them so long to charge my accout, they said it was because the bank denied the charge.
I went to my bank and asked why they had denied the charge. They checked my accout and found no denials for anything. They said the only reason they would deny it is if I was outside my overdraft protection and that Redbox lied.
I went back home and called Redbox again for a explination. They tried to tell me it must have been because I was overdrafted. When I informed them I had never been overdrafted at anytime since I had this accout. They just kept repeating the bottom line, " We have up to 90 days to charge your account."
I finally, after alot of yelling, got them to take off one of the charges. But before hanging up, he made sure he got in one more jab. He said, " We at Redbox are happy to help you, but I want you to know that this was a valid charge and you were responsible for it." The thing is they never could explain why it was denied or why there were even two charges for the same movie.
My bank teller said they get alot of this and I believe he put it best, " Redbox is the devil."
