I paid for a 6 month subscription with match.com, had a decent experience, but was waiting for my subscription to run out and to then try another site. Conveniently (for its bottom line if not public reputation) match.com did not send me a reminder or notice that my subscription had expired.instead they just charged my credit card for $108 for another 6 month subscription. I was unhappy that they had automatically charged me, but stunned that when I called they wouldn't reverse the charge, or even reduce the amount to what it would cost for the month and a half that I had access to the account (access I wasn't interested in having). The customer service rep just kept saying "sorry, it's in our policies, " then his supervisor said the same things just much more argumentatively. She escalated the conflict, then passed me off to someone else who gave me a credit for about half the amount. I won't recommend match.com to anyone as their automatic charge and no refund "policy" seems underhanded and unfriendly to me.

Match.com should change its policy and practice with regard to aggressive revenue generation, and should process refunds without chewing out their customers and turning us into ambassadors for any other dating site but theirs.
