Att Wireless customer loyalty? - Early upgrade

Well I'm a true believer about customer loyalty, but evidently AT&T isn't. I've had coverage with them for nearly 9 yrs now. I'm they type of customer that just pays and doesn't complain, but enough is enough. I last upgraded my phone in April and my eligibility will be until this coming Sept. I currently have a Palm Centro Smart phone and it went out on me. I've been wanting the iPhone and AT&T refuses to allow me to upgrade 2 months early. I've never complained about a bill, I've never requested a free phone. I've never complained about dropped calls, but I have paid my bill each month for the past 9 yrs. I've been shuffled from Cust Svc to the store back and forth and it appears that helping someone isn't an option they offer. I'm not asking for the phone for free or with no contract, I'm just asking for them to help out a loyal customer of 9 yrs by allowing me to upgrage 2 MONTHS early. If I upgrade now to the iPhone, my cost would be $349 for the 16GB, but I wait until Sept, the cost drops to $149... Not sure about everyone else, but I think this is obsurd... Thank you AT&T for not helping a cust of nearly a decade. I will be changing my services after my contract has expired...
