Apple will be releasing their new Iphone on 6/10/09. If you have an Iphone you can see if you are eligible to upgrade on the apple website. If you are not eligible for an upgrade this is the message you get:
As a valued AT&T customer, AT&T can offer you an early iPhone upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee. You may qualify for a standard iPhone upgrade on 12/22.
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but there is something very disturbing about this promotional lead because it gives false advertisement. It states very clearly that you can get an EARLY upgrade WITH a 2 year commitment and $18.00 upgrade fee, but you can choose for a standard upgrade at a later date mine happens to be 12/22/09. I spoke to AT&T about this this morning and they informed me that I have to pay $299.00 plus the $18.00 upgrade fee if I decided to purchase the Iphone now. Furthermore, the $18.00 upgrade fee applies at the time of the standard upgrade date should I choose to wait. No where in this promotional lead does it state that a so called "Valued Customer" should have to pay the full price of the phone if they choose to upgrade. Furthermore, there are no state, government or industry regulations that AT&T should apply these restrictions on anyone!!! They are doing this purely for profit and gain.
AT&T, in these hard economic times, should be ashamed of themselves for slapping your so called "Valued Customers" in the face!
