I received messages from events2cell telling me that there were no new events in my area. And a second message saying that I was subscribed to the service for $9.99 per month for three alerts. And that $9.99 was billed to my AT&T cell account. Since I had not subscribed I knew this was a scam so I called the number they referenced to unsubscribe. The first thing I thought about was that this was a fishing expedition to find out which phone numbers were valid - just like scam artists do with email (and have done to me). I called them and it was a third party cutout hired to unsubscribe to this service. They would not unsubscribe me without my cell phone number, so I knew it was a scam at that point. But I gave it to them anyway. Then I called AT&T to find out what this was all about. Seems they have this service called Parent Blocking that will allow you to block purchases that are charged to your AT&T account, but when they activated it it was set to allow purchases. I reamed their hide up and down for about an hour until they disable this "feature" on all of my lines. Everyone better call AT&T and get this blocked to prevent their account being ripped off.
