LA Carpet
Consumer Report

Hi, I copy the letter I sent to L.A. Carpet and email them, which summarized the problems I have with them.

Ghassar Hedayati
Owner of LA Carpet
(Personal Info Removed)

Dear Mr. Ghassar,

On April 21, my husband and I signed a contract with LA carpet located at 762 Arrow Hwy. San Dimas, CA to have our kitchen done including installing new cabinets, tile floor, and granite counter tops. The sales person at the store that helped us was Mr. Hadi. Now 114 days later and our kitchen is still not complete.

Through the remodeling of our kitchen, Mr. Hadi was not reachable at many times and did not return our calls. I had spent nearly 15 hours so far of my own time mostly on the phone to try to get our kitchen remodeling done. My phone bill will indicate the amount of times I have called Mr. Hadi at the San Dimas office and even on his personal cell phone.

On about June 15, the cabinets were installed and the right farthest top cabinet door was observed to be a slight different white color than the rest of the other cabinets and noted on the cabinet doors were several areas of scrape patches. Also the outlayed of the kitchen was done wrong. At the time, I told the cabinet installer that this was unacceptable and was concern of further delays of our kitchen. Therefore, I did not sign off for the cabinet work that day due to the outlayed of the kitchen was incorrect and two of the cabinet doors were defective. After several attempts to reach Mr. Hadi, I finally got a hold of him and asked him to come to the house, so he can see the condition of the door cabinets. When he arrived on about June 18, he stated "No problem, we just need to replace the cabinet doors and it won't be any charge to you." Mr. Hadi also stated, "It's my mistake, I forgot to put it in the drawing plan that you wanted the breakfast nook.". So that same day, he also remeasured the kitchen to include the breakfast nook that we wanted initially. I also told Mr. Hadi, we are trying to sell this house and we need the kitchen done. After shortly, I called the San Dimas office and talked with the manager (Mr. Miede) and verbally complained to him how unhappy we were with Mr. Hadi and requested someone else to help us finish our kitchen and Mr. Miede stated "No I can't do that because Mr. Hadi was the one you worked with initially and signed the contract with.

On August 7, our defective cabinet doors was replaced with new ones and the rest of our cabinets came. My husband (Lewis) was present at the house when the same installer was there. My husband asked the installer (Mr. Ernesto) what happened to those previous cabinet door and the installer stated "I don't know, but it was scrapped up when I installed that day, it was weird why it came that way.

On about August 7, when I opened my mail I noticed a bill made by Mr. Hadi stating we owe L.A. Carpet $465.00 and under comments wrote: add 2 brand new doors. The doors was painted it over.

I immediately called Mr. Hadi and in a loud stern voice he stated, "You painted over those cabinet doors." I responded, " No, It doesn't make sense, why would we paint over a brand new cabinet door, I was present on the day of the cabinet doors being installed and it came that way." Mr. Hadi then said, "We will not finish your kitchen granite then, until you pay us the $465.00."

In short, the delays from L.A. Carptet have prevented us from putting our house on the market and has in turn, caused a financial burden for us. Furthermore, L.A. Carpet, has refused to finish our kitchen due to unreasonably charging us for a defective cabinet doors that the company have installed.
Since its been 114 days and our kitchen is still not complete, we will give L.A. Carpet this week to install the granite and finish our kitchen, or we will declare or considered LA Carpet abandoning the job.in addition, I believe L.A. Capet has breach their contract with us. Mr. Ghassar, your company's business practice is unlawful and deceptive.

My husband and I will have no choice, but to file a complaint with Contractor's State License Board to investigate this matter and will not hesitate to take legal action.

Sincerely,
Kimberly Nguyen
