D.E. Freeman was contracted to do a job for me which included the following, tearing out existing kitchen cabinets, opening up a wall from the living room into the kitchen, taking off a door and putting up a door frame, installing 42 inch wall cabinets (one corner cabinet with glass door), installing cabinets in my laundry room, creating an island, placing granite counter tops on the bar area, island and counter top.
The cabinets were installed and they did not fit the design of my kitchen. I actually lost cabinet space in the remodel. There are "fillers" which were not advised in the plan throughout my entire kitchen. It appears that the cabinets in my kitchen were just lying around rather than the custom cabinets that I was advised. I asked about this and I was told that this is how it is supposed to be. I asked about a dead space in the corner near the wall and I was told there was nothing I could do about it. When I contacted other contractors and designers about this they told me that the cabinet makers make a "blind corner cabinet" which could have fit in this position. I spoke with Mr Freeman about that and he then recanted his statement and said, "oh yeah we will work something out". Nothing has yet to be done.
I then picked out my granite which he stated was in my price range. I went on my honeymoon and left him with contact numbers while I was gone. He never contacted anyone. When I returned, I walked in to find granite that I had not chosen and that I did NOT like. I actually hated it. He told me that he had intentionally put it there "just for my husband's going away party" yet my mom had received an email from him stating he had picked out something that he knew I would like since he couldn't get me my original granite. The ugly granite is still in my house. He has yet to pay the granite guys for this piece so I am not able to get my other piece until he pays for this piece. I HAVE ALREADY PAID HIM FOR MY GRANITE.
I was then left with an "island" that was just two cabinets sitting in the middle of my kitchen with granite on top rather than the furniture design that I had sent him photographs of. This has yet to be fixed.
I was told that this kitchen would be finished before April 1st. I returned home from my honeymoon on April 2nd to find that the back splash was not complete, I still had no running water, my dishwasher was in the middle of my living room floor, I had no power and the design was all wrong.
The reason for the kitchen to be complete was that I was having a going away party for my husband on April 5th, he was leaving for Afghanistan for a year. I spoke with on the 2nd of April and he assured me that it would be complete. The morning of April 5th I still had no running water, no power and the kitchen was nowhere near complete. I attempted to call him on the phone and his phone had been disconnected. I had been attempting to call him numerous times prior to the 5th however, I did not get any answer which is typical of David.
The only way that I was able to get ahold of David was he had given someone my number as a referral. She called by the grace of God and she had his current number. To his surprise I contacted him. He sent a plumber that has been known to be involved in drug activity. The water got hooked up however, the dishwasher and the disposal never worked.
I never saw anyone again in my house until about a 2 weeks later when I insisted after numerous phone calls and numerous emails that David come to my house and look at the issues in my kitchen.
Mr Freeman came and made promises which still have not been followed up on. As each day goes by it is obvious that this con man is not going to finish my job despite his claims.
When I told him that I was keeping documentation he stated that he no longer wanted to speak via email. HE DOES NOT LIKE A PAPER TRAIL!!! Yet when you try to call him on the phone he seldomly answers.
I am supposed to be getting a new corner cabinet with a glass door, a blind corner cabinet, new doors for numerous cabinets because of serious imperfections in the others to include stain issues. The granite was supposed to be paid for by today yet when I spoke to him today he advised maybe tomorrow.
The electrician, granite wholesaler, painter, subcontractors (3), & assistant all have not been paid for parts of my job.
I am not the only one he is doing this to!
I have documentation of all of our contacts.
He is a con man!!!
