Consumer Report

I apparently made a mistake in trying to sign up for a free membership. I never used the service, only tried to sign in and, when it would not accept my password, I changed my password. That is ALL!!!

As soon as I discovered this error, I tried to call the company, but they were closed for the weekend.

So, I called them this morning, and spent over an hour on the telephone with them literally BEGGING them to return my money.

There were two charges. The smaller one for $21 and change was refunded. They are refusing to refund the $87.34 even though it has been less than 48 hours since I signed up for this.

I tried to explain to them that I am a severely disabled veteran and that I live on a fixed income. I tried to explain that the amount of money they took out of my account represents two weeks worth of groceries.

I tried to explain that under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Dodd Frank Act, they were in violation of the 72 hour law that gives me the right to change my mind for any credit charge within 72 hours.

They then told me that "they did not have to comply with THAT portion of the law because I live in Texas" and that "There are only ten states who have to comply with the law." The reason I was given was that "their records show that I used the service and tried to contact someone."

As God is my witness, I NEVER used this service.

This is deceptive business practices if I ever saw it.

They then hung up on me.

I just sent them an email (AGAIN) BEGGING them to return my money.

I simply cannot afford this.

Please help.
