I recently applied for the Hud / Vash homeless Vet program. I supplied all the proper documentation. I was told by Candy, the Hud-Vash Case Manager that I qualified for Hud-Vash on July 19.2012 and that i could begin looking for an apartment and that my voucher would be ready on July 31. I found an apartment through one of their property managment companys they recomended, (Landmark Properties). I filled out Landmark Properties application, paid the $40.00 application fee and was approved. After several phone call attempts to Candy She finally called back on July 31 and said it may be another week, and would not specify as to why the delay, other than something about a verification on something but would not tell me. I then suggested, that if i paid deposit for apt. Out of my own money, that maybe Landmark would hold it for me until i got my voucher. She then said, (Well you may wind up being liable for two months Rent. This tells me she has no idea when i may get voucher, and not being honest with me, as to why the delay. So the application fee of $40.00 was a waste, as Landmark properties is not going to hold an apartment indiffinately. My time and efforts was a waste. And I am still considered a homeless vet, since i am living in a tansitional house with 18 other guys. I am so Angry. Yakima Hud Housing only will let you rent a place that rents for 540.00 or less, which in most cases is an apartment in the slums of Yakima, Washington. I found one in a nice neighborhood, and apartment is very nice. And now i get jerked around after all my efforts. I will being paying a good share, in fact more than the housing authority will to move into this place. All i was hoping for was some help.
