I am a single mom and applied for and apartment with Highland Walk Apt on 11/05. I gave "Kathy" and Elcie Freitas my $50 app fee and was approved for an apt. The move in special clearly stated $199 in which "Kathy" states she would honor last month special. Well, after getting approved they stated that i would need an additional $150 for admin fee? In which they stated the "admin" fee was to hold the apartment. Well on november 7 i gave Elcie Freitas my $150 and was scheduled to get the keys when all of a sudden my paperwork suggested that i come up with another $699 for security deposit?
In disgust i did some research because i only had the move in specific amount. Well during my research it was found that 2 murders happened in that complex this year. My child's safety comes first so i decided not to take the place. So the next day 11/08 i was afraid to go back to the place because of the young murders but i did. Im assuming my application fee of $50 was non refundable but the $150 was to hold the apartment and i didnt want the apartment any more. As i approached the front office Elcie Freitas met me at the door and says "i hope you have good news for us"?
I says "im gonna need my $150 to look for another apartment" i told them i decided to pass on an apartment in that area. "Elcie Freitas and Kathy became disgusted and says "if your not getting the apartment, please leave the premises". I asked for a refund for $150 because i need that money for another apartment. Kathy walked to the office door and opened it and told me and my 2 year old son to leave or she would call the police. Well, she did. When the police came they looked over the contract and was on my side but states that it is a civil matter. Then as i was leaving, Elcie and Kathy says that we will give you corporate phone number to see what they will say.
Elcie wrote a name and num on her card Rocio Alarcon (954) 556 8994 when calling the number the woman says "hello" no company name was said and during the conversation at that number i asked for the corporate address and they hung up? Im hurt and i have no where to go with my child. I need that money to obtain housing and i feel like ive been robbed. They got a total of $200 from me and i still dont have housing. If anyone one reads this before applying for an apartment please dont give these people more than just the $50 app fee or you will LOSE your money.
