I am a veteran who had everything going for me. A successful business and a nice home. The failing economy pushed me to my limits, slowly but surely eroding and eventually uprooting my business. I had a hard time making a living after that. Finding work seemed nearly impossible.
Things got so bad that I ended up living in a storage unit for 3 weeks. I went to the VA for help. The Federal Government has a program called HUD Vash. They claim that it's there to help homeless veterans. Bulls*t. They didn't even try to help me. The woman at the Hud Vash office said "You don't qualify. It's only for chronically homeless vets".
Since then, I started a business. I rented an executive office suite. Nobody knows about this but I live there. I make the best of it. I'm trying to re-establish myself again - no thanks to the V.A. I'll get through this and my new business will succeed. Meanwhile, the VA and the rest of our dysfunctional government will continue to support junkies and criminals. But the people who are really struggling in America - we're invisible. We don't count.
I will make it though this. And the point I want to make is - there is nobody looking out for us. There's no God looking out for us. The government doesn't give a f*k about us. We are all on our own.
