I posted an item on Craigslist. I was contacted by a woman (whose phone number stated she was from NC) who was interested in purchasing the item. She asked me to send it to Nigeria to her cousin and offered to pay for me to ship it there. So I packed it up and sent it to Nigeria. She said she would give me the money through PayPal and then claimed her account got hacked. She then sent me a fake check that was from a bank in VA, made out to me by a surgical company in MI, that was for way over the amount we agreed upon. Then she asked me to cash the check and send the extra money through Western Union to her sister in Nigeria. I also received a text message from the "surgical company" asking me if I received the check they sent me.
