I contacted Jail Call Solutions via the internet. I should have known their claims of lower costs to talk with a family member who is an inmate by using their services. The service provider to Chicago is Securus, and it does cost quite a bit for a call. Anyway, I got my AT&T phone bill yesterday and the balance was $242.00. On the plan we have (or had) was for free long distance, internet and local calls. Evidently Jail Call Solutions is connected to ILD Teleservices, who then is connected with another company called Optics something. They changed our AT&T long distance provider to their company and thus this large bill. This is a total scam. I was just honestly trying to lower the costs of talking to my son, but this is definitely not the way. I should have known this was too good to be true, and it surely is. I've had to call three companies to get my long distance plan back with AT&T, and they will not refund me but half the money they charged and are supposed to be "working on the rest". I'm sure they'll do a lot of work on that.
Please do not use any of these companies. They will get you. They are fraudulent.
