I signed a contract with Shapes who is affiliated with National Fitness back in October.in February, I moved across state for a job and National Fitness initially told me I could cancel my membership since there was no affiliated gym within 15 miles of my new location and it would cost $50. When I called to cancel, they tell me there are two gyms I can go to and will not be allowed to cancel. However, both these gym sites (same owner) went out of business over a year ago. After calling back National Fitness and informing them of this discovery, they two months to do "research" to validate my claim and said it would cost me $75 to cancel. Then after sending in my cancelation request, they called back and stated that there was a gym in my area... The reference... Same gym they initially told me about and which I had stated was close. Another week goes by, and finally I am eligible to cancel my membership. However, now they want to charge me 100 to cancel. I already paid for months that I was unable to use my membership and at initially sign up, I had to pay $200, of which, I will not getting a refund. I would have been fine with going to another gym, but they do not have an affiliate in my new location, so why do I have to pay more money when this is out of my control. Their customer service is horrible. They are a money greedy company with no backbone. I will never affiliate myself with them again.
