I sigend a contract with National Fitness fro a gym mebership that stated 18 month option to cancel. I tried to cancel in person twice at the gym, they said I had to wait until the 18 month, and could cancel in May. I called in many times to National Fitness who said I had to cancel in person at the Gym. Just before the 18 months I tried to cancel at the Gym, they insisted that I cancel with the Corporate Office, National Fitness. I sent in a letter asking to cancel my membership 7 days before the 18 month due date. 6 weeks later I recieve a letter in the mail saying they denied my cancellation because I had not canceled at 18 months.
They then claimed that they counted from the day I signed the contract not my membership starting date. I feel completely ripped off, I did everything in my powers to cancel this gym membership, and they made sure to make this impossible. As a business owner i find it impossible to accept this unethical way of doing business, I have called the Attorney General and submitted all transaction between me and National Fitness, and will also contact the FTC. Watch out for National Fitness, they are conducting a very shady Business ethic. Do not sign any contracts with this Company.
