Living Social
Scam

I used to think Living Social was the greatest, but lately I think they are scamming people and i've changed my mind. I purchased two vouchers for a class (spent $140) and when I tried to make a reservation, there were no availabilities. I contacted customer service by email and never received a response. I then called, was placed on hold for about a half hour, and was told they would follow up the next day. They followed up three days later, but didn't answer my question and simply said my money would not be refunded because it was against their policy. I was told over the phone that because there is one line in a long paragraph of fine print stating: "reservations subject to availability" that I was not eligible for a refund. The thing is, I know they sold more vouchers than could be redeemed for those classes, so it seems obvious that they are trying to sell vouchers knowing ahead of time that many people will never be able to redeem them. It is not made clear on the voucher or in any part of the purchase process that spending your money does not entitle you to the actual activity you signed up for. What people don't know is that spending that money does nothing but make you eligible for a LOTTERY. I call this FRAUD.By the way, I have had no such problems with GROUPON. Groupon has so far given me excellent service. I had one similar incident happen with a Groupon voucher where the merchant did not answer the telephone so I couldn't schedule an appointment. I contacted Groupon, they were fast, polite, and they refunded my money without issue. Forget Living Social, go for a company like Groupon that stands by their services!!
