I had a large layaway which the store cancelled. My receipt states that "layaways which are delinquent by 14 days or more may be cancelled by sears ". This was only four days past the due date. The products were not discontinued because employees there checked the computer and stated "they still have it in stock". There was obviously a computer error because my last payment receipt printed the same due date as the one before. I questioned this at the time and employee ensured me it would not be cancelled, as payments were current and it was a computer "glitch". Of course when I went back two weeks later IT WAS CANCELLED, although the due date was only four days past. I have both receipts and also a computer generated printout of my payment history that i received from a store employee when I questioned the original due date error. I already paid over 800 dollars on this purchase. I feel STRONGLY that my original layaway fee and 25 dollar cancellation fee should also be refunded. This has been a huge waste of my time and very irritating. I was fulfilling the terms of the contract. It was NEVER 14 or more days late. Also, why should I have to wait for a check when it was your store error and all payments were made by debit and deposit was originally made in cash??? Store employees were unhelpful and argumentative and store manager was out of town.
