On 12/31 I signed up for hughesnet satellite service cost 61.56 with the understanding that I had 30 days to cancel the service if I didn't like it. Two weeks into the service I begain contacting hughes customer service and informing them that I would not be keeping the service. Since most of my contact with them was through their customer service online I have no records of most of my efforts. However I did manage to save some emails that plainly state I did not want to inter into any contract for service and to cancel. On the 31 day of january they didn't just take 61.56 out of my account they took 67.31 claiming I had upgraded my service rather than canceling. When I contacted them by phone I had to fax them a copy of my email showing that I had indeed canceled. So they agreed that I had canceled in time. But that normally they didn't except email cancelations. And that if I the penilty for early termination was 400.00. So they would just keep the 67.31 instead of chargeing 400.00. But for me to call them on the 1 march to make sure that my service was canceled! I immedatly contacted the better business bureu. Because I suspected they would then try and say that I had paid for another month which would bind me into a 2yr. Contract and trigar the early cancelation fee of 400.00. And I was right on the 6th day of march they removed 400.00 from my credit card!!
